Cambria Home Additions & ADU: The Miami Owner’s Guide
Cambria quartz surfaces in Miami home additions and ADUs typically run $53100-$153400 for full addition construction with Cambria countertop integration, and we stock compatible substrate materials and installation systems for same-week project starts. Most Miami homeowners discover their Cambria installation needs attention when the surface shows stress cracking near structural settlement points or when moisture intrusion from our heavy summer rains compromises the underlying cabinet or wall framing that supports the quartz.
We’ve installed Cambria in additions from Coral Gables to Aventura since 2007, and the call usually starts the same way: the countertop looks fine, but something underneath shifted. In Miami’s coastal climate, that “something” is often the structure, not the stone.
Which Cambria Models This Applies To
Cambria’s residential line breaks into several collections that integrate differently with addition and ADU construction. The Brittanica, Torquay, and White Cliff designs are the ones we see most often in Miami ADU kitchenettes and primary suite wet bars, typically in 2cm or 3cm thicknesses. The 3cm slabs can span up to 120 inches without substrate support, which matters when you’re building a compact ADU kitchen where every cabinet inch counts.
To identify your exact spec, check the sticker on the slab underside or the warranty card from your original installer. Cambria stamps the collection name, thickness, and lot number. If that sticker is gone, measure the edge: 2cm reads roughly 3/4 inch, 3cm reads roughly 1-1/4 inch. Mixing these up when ordering replacement substrate or support hardware is a $2,000 mistake we see a few times a year.
We source Cambria through authorized distributors in Miami-Dade, and we also work with Silestone and KraftMaid systems when the project calls for cross-brand compatibility. Rowan Construction Group Miami is an independent contractor and not affiliated with Cambria. For additions where the original Cambria spec is discontinued, we match the closest current collection and document the substitution in writing before cutting.
Signs Your Cambria Home Additions & ADU Is Failing

- Hairline cracks appearing at sink or cooktop cutouts. Cambria itself doesn’t crack under normal thermal load, but if the supporting cabinet deck settled or the adhesive bed failed, the quartz follows the movement. In Miami, we see this most in additions built on fill soil or older homes with post-tension slab issues.
- Visible gaps between the backsplash and countertop edge. This usually means the wall framing behind has shifted, often from humidity cycling in unconditioned ADU spaces. The Cambria didn’t move; the structure did, and now water can track behind.
- Soft or spongy feel when pressing on the countertop near seams. The substrate, typically plywood or cement board, has delaminated from moisture intrusion. Our summer rains find every unsealed joint, and once the substrate goes, the Cambria loses support.
- Discoloration or staining that won’t clean off. True Cambria stains are rare, but if the seal at the sink flange failed, iron-rich Miami groundwater can wick up through the substrate and create a brown halo that looks like a stone stain.
- Cabinet doors or drawers binding after the addition was completed. This reads like a cabinet issue, and sometimes it is, but in our experience it’s often the cabinet box twisting because the floor system beneath the Cambria-topped island or peninsula is settling unevenly.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For a Miami home addition or ADU with Cambria integration, project costs run $53100-$153400 for full construction with countertop installation, depending on square footage, structural requirements, and whether we’re tying into existing slab or building elevated. ADU construction specifically ranges $106200-$259600 when it’s a standalone structure with full utilities.
What drives the spread: foundation type (slab-on-grade vs. elevated for flood zone), electrical service capacity from the main house, and whether the Cambria installation requires custom templating for irregular spaces. Our quote breaks out structure, MEP, and finish separately so you see where the money goes.
Under Clause 1 of the Haven Standard, that quote is a flat written price with a written scope. No work starts until you have both. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the installation, and every visit includes a documented photo record of substrate condition, level readings, and final placement.
DIY or Call Us?

There’s a safe middle ground here, and then there’s the point where you need the crew.
What you can check yourself: verify the gap width at the backsplash with a feeler gauge, photograph any cracks for documentation, and confirm whether the issue is the stone surface or the structure beneath by pressing firmly at the crack line. If the surface flexes, the substrate is compromised.
Where DIY goes wrong: Cambria slabs weigh 20-25 pounds per square foot for 3cm material. A typical ADU kitchen island at 36 square feet is 720-plus pounds of quartz that requires vacuum lifting equipment and a four-person team to place without chipping. The adhesive bed is epoxy or silicone-modified thinset, and the cure time is 24 hours minimum with precise leveling. We’ve been called in to remove DIY installations where the slab cracked during placement or the unsupported overhang snapped at the sink rail. The fix cost what the original professional install would have, plus demo.
We’re not going to tell you a 700-pound quartz slab is a weekend project. Measure twice, write it down, then build it. Call (786) 321-4970 and we’ll templating and price it properly.
FAQs
Cambria surfaces themselves are rated for the life of the installation, but in Miami’s climate the limiting factor is almost always the substrate or adhesive bond, not the quartz. We see 15-20 years on well-built additions with conditioned space, and 8-12 years on ADUs where humidity control is inconsistent. Call (786) 321-4970 for an exact quote on your specific setup - estimates are free.
Sometimes, if the slab comes up intact and the break was clean at a seam. In practice, Cambria removal without chipping requires vacuum lifting and controlled prying; the success rate is maybe 60 percent for full slabs and near zero for pieces near cutouts. We price both scenarios in our quote so you know the numbers before we start.
Templating is one visit, fabrication is 10-14 business days through the Miami distributor, and installation is a single day for most ADU kitchens. Full addition construction runs 8-16 weeks depending on permit status. We pull permits and schedule inspections as part of the scope, not as an add-on.
We don’t stock full slabs, but we maintain relationships with three Miami-Dade Cambria distributors and can typically source standard colors within two weeks. Custom or discontinued collections take longer, and we’ll tell you exactly which before you sign. For urgent situations, we can install temporary plywood tops to keep your ADU functional while the quartz is fabricated.
