Mr-Glass Fence Installation: The Miami Owner’s Guide

Mr-Glass fence installation in Miami typically runs $4,130-$10,620 for a complete vinyl or aluminum system, depending on linear footage, height, and whether we’re anchoring into coral rock or standard soil. We stock Mr-Glass-compatible posts, rails, and infill panels for same-day repair or full replacement across Miami-Dade. Most owners first notice trouble when a post leans after a tropical storm, a gate sags and won’t latch, or pickets start pulling free from the bottom rail - signs that the installation hardware, not just the fence material, has reached its limit.

Which Mr-Glass Models This Applies To

Mr-Glass produces both vinyl and aluminum fence systems, and the part you need depends on which series was originally installed. The vinyl line uses a routed rail system with rectangular posts and tongue-and-groove pickets; aluminum uses a screwed rail-to-post connection with punched rectangular rails. Check the post cap - Mr-Glass stamps a small “MG” logo and series code (VG for vinyl, AL for aluminum) on the underside of removable caps, or on a sticker inside the gate frame.

We’ve found the VG-400 series most common in Miami’s 2015-2020 builds, particularly in Pinecrest and Coral Gables installations where HOAs required white vinyl privacy fencing. The AL-200 ornamental series shows up more in Coconut Grove and Miami Beach, where aluminum’s salt resistance matters. OEM Mr-Glass posts are 5×5 inches for vinyl and 2×2 or 3×3 inches for aluminum, with wall thicknesses that vary by height - 6-foot vinyl needs .150-inch wall posts, while 4-foot can use .135-inch. Aftermarket equivalents from Jerith or SpecRail match dimensionally but differ in rail clip geometry; we verify fit with a physical sample before quoting, because a rail that hangs 1/8 inch low won’t carry a gate properly.

Signs Your Mr-Glass Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Post lean after storms. Miami’s shallow water table and sandy loam let posts rock in their concrete footings once the soil washes out. We see this first on corner posts and gate posts, which carry the most lateral load. The fix is extraction and re-pouring with a wider footing, not just pushing it back upright.
  • Gate sag and latch misalignment. Mr-Glass gates use a steel or aluminum frame with adjustable hinges; when the top rail joint loosens or the post shifts, the gate drops 1/2 inch and the latch pin misses the striker. Tightening hinges works once, maybe twice - persistent sag means the frame is racking.
  • Pickets pulling from bottom rail. Vinyl pickets lock into the bottom rail with a snap-fit tab that fatigues in UV. After seven to ten years in Miami sun, the tab cracks and the picket flops outward. Individual replacement is possible, but color matching faded white vinyl is unreliable.
  • Rail bow between posts. A 6-foot vinyl rail carrying privacy pickets is a beam under constant load; if the post spacing exceeded 6 feet during original install, or if the rail was nicked during handling, it bows permanently. This is an installation defect, not a material defect, and it recurs unless we add a mid-span post.
  • Corrosion at aluminum post base. Even powder-coated aluminum fails where the coating is compromised at ground level, especially if the original installer set posts in concrete without a gravel drainage layer. We find this in waterfront properties from Key Biscayne to Sunny Isles, where salt spray accelerates the attack.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Scope Price Range
Single post replacement (vinyl or aluminum) $470-$1,180
Gate frame rebuild with new hardware $1,180-$2,360
Section replacement (2 posts, 2 rails, pickets/infill) $2,360-$4,720
Complete Mr-Glass fence installation, 150 linear feet $4,130-$10,620

The range reflects three variables: access (tight side yards in Miami’s older neighborhoods add labor), substrate (coral rock requires a hydraulic auger rental), and whether we’re matching existing or replacing the full run. Our quote is a flat written price with a written scope - under Clause 1 of the Haven Standard, the number you agree to is the number you pay. Every fence job carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise, and you receive a documented photo record of the post holes, footing depths, and finished alignment before we leave.

DIY or Call Us?

There’s no high-tension danger in fence work, but there is a precision problem. An owner can safely check whether a post is loose by rocking it and looking for cracked concrete at grade, or confirm gate sag with a level across the top rail. What goes wrong in DIY is the post depth and footing size: Miami-Dade requires 24-inch minimum depth for 6-foot fences, with an 8-inch diameter footing in standard soil and 12-inch in fill or sand. We’ve extracted dozens of homeowner-installed posts set 16 inches deep in dry-mix concrete that crumbled within a year. The fence looks straight for two months, then the first storm hits.

We carry Mr-Glass-compatible posts, rails, and hardware on our trucks, and we pull permits when the job requires them - most replacement sections don’t, but new installations over 6 feet in Miami-Dade do. Call (786) 321-4970 to schedule your free estimate; we’ll measure the run, check the existing footings, and give you a written price before any work starts.
