Oldcastle Driveway & Pavers: The Miami Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Oldcastle-compatible driveway and paver systems in Miami, with paver driveway installation typically running $8,260-$21,240 depending on substrate condition and pattern complexity. Most Oldcastle paver replacements and extensions can be priced same-day, and we carry matching inventory for the Coastal, Belgard-Oldcastle, and standard architectural paver lines. Homeowners usually discover a problem when settling creates visible dips after heavy rain, or when individual pavers rock underfoot because the bedding sand has washed out from underneath.

Which Oldcastle Models This Applies To

A new concrete driveway with a paver border

Oldcastle operates under several product families in South Florida, and matching the right system matters for structural compatibility and color consistency. The Coastal line, sold through Home Depot and regional distributors, uses a 60mm thickness with beveled edges and comes in Holland, Cobble, and Plaza patterns. The Belgard-Oldcastle partnership products, including Bergerac and Dublin Cobble, run 80mm thick with a tumbled finish and interlock differently. Standard architectural pavers, often used in commercial and HOA applications across Coral Gables and Pinecrest, are 80mm-100mm with sharper edges and tighter joint spacing.

To identify your exact match, flip a loose paver and check for the molded manufacturing code, usually a date stamp and plant identifier. Measure thickness with a tape measure, not by eye, 60mm and 80mm pavers look similar once settled. For color matching, we pull from current Oldcastle production lots rather than relying on weathered samples, a faded Coral or Tan paver will never match a new one from the same nominal color. We also source quality aftermarket equivalents from Techo-Bloc and Belgard direct when Oldcastle lead times stretch past three weeks, which they do seasonally in Miami.

Signs Your Oldcastle Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

  • Sunken or dipped sections after rain. Water infiltrates the bedding sand layer and carries it into the subgrade, creating voids. In Miami’s sandy soils, this happens faster than in clay-heavy northern markets because the water table sits higher and drainage paths change seasonally.
  • Individual pavers rock or click underfoot. The bedding sand has eroded from beneath that specific unit, or the edge restraint has failed and allowed lateral spread. Left alone, the rocking paver will crack at the corners where it contacts neighbors.
  • Weeds growing through joint sand. Polymeric sand has degraded or was never installed, allowing organic material to accumulate. Miami’s growing season means a small gap becomes a rooted problem in six weeks during summer.
  • Chipped corners or surface spalling. Freeze-thaw damage is rare here, but salt exposure from pool equipment or coastal air causes surface degradation. 60mm Coastal pavers show this first at the arris edges where the cement paste is thinnest.
  • Standing water that persists more than 24 hours after rain. The base slope has inverted due to settlement, or the original installation lacked adequate percolation through the crushed stone layer. In Miami’s flat terrain, even a quarter-inch per ten feet matters.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A new curved paver walkway to the front porch

For a paver driveway installation in Miami, expect $8,260-$21,240. The lower end covers a straightforward replacement of a 400-square-foot driveway on stable subgrade with standard 60mm pavers in a running bond pattern. The upper range reflects larger areas, complex herringbone or circular patterns requiring more cuts, and subgrade remediation where we remove 6-8 inches of saturated base and recompact with DOT-approved crushed concrete.

Every quote breaks out materials, labor, base preparation, and disposal separately. Under Clause 1 of the Haven Standard, that written price is locked before we start, no surprises. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers settling, joint sand failure, and paver defects from installation error. We pull permits when required by Miami-Dade or municipal code, and pass inspections before final payment.

Component Typical Range
Paver removal and disposal $590-$1,650
Base repair/replacement (per sq ft) $3.50-$7.50
60mm Oldcastle Coastal pavers (materials only) $4.25-$6.75/sq ft
80mm Belgard-Oldcastle (materials only) $6.50-$9.50/sq ft
Polymeric sand and sealing $1.25-$2.50/sq ft
Full installation labor $5.50-$11.00/sq ft

DIY or Call Us?

What you can safely check yourself: lift one paver at the edge and measure the bedding sand depth, it should be 3/4 to 1 inch of coarse, sharp-edged sand, not masonry sand or play sand. Check that edge restraints are still pinned firmly, plastic strips warp in Miami sun within three years if not properly anchored. Photograph the manufacturing code on the paver bottom before calling, it saves a trip.

Where DIY goes wrong: re-leveling individual pavers without addressing the base failure underneath guarantees recurrence in six months. Compacting the base properly requires a plate compactor and moisture control, too dry and you get voids, too wet and you get mud pumping. And matching faded pavers to new inventory by eye, in Miami’s UV intensity, fails every time. We bring production samples and install a test patch before committing to a full order. Measure twice, write it down, then build it.
