CWS Driveway & Pavers: The Miami Owner’s Guide

We stock and install CWS-compatible driveway and paver components across Miami, with most replacement jobs running $5,900-$16,520 for full driveway replacement and $295-$825 for sealing work. Most CWS paver resets and edge-restraint repairs are completed in a single day once materials are confirmed. Homeowners usually discover the failure when they notice shifting pavers along the driveway edge, pooling water where the pitch used to drain, or a wobble under tire load that wasn’t there last season.

Which CWS Models This Applies To

CWS produces driveway and paver systems across several product lines, and the part you need depends on when your surface was installed. The CWS Classic Series, used heavily in Miami-Dade installations from 2012-2019, employs a 60mm paver with a proprietary edge-restraint clip that differs from the 80mm Commercial Series clip by roughly 3/16 inch. That gap matters: the wrong restraint causes pavers to migrate within two wet seasons. Check the underside of a loose paver for the stamped “CWS-60” or “CWS-80” marking, or measure the paver thickness at the edge with a tape measure.

We also see the CWS Permeable line in Coral Gables and Pinecrest installations, where Miami-Dade’s stormwater retention requirements drove specification. The Permeable series uses a wider joint spacer (7mm vs. 3mm) and a different bedding gradation. OEM edge restraints from CWS run 20-30% above quality aftermarket equivalents from brands like Belgard and Techo-Bloc, which we also stock. For most Miami residential driveways, the aftermarket restraint matches the load spec and carries the same 10-year material warranty. We source both and will show you the part before we install it.

Signs Your CWS Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

Signs Your CWS Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
  • Pavers rocking under vehicle weight. This usually means the bedding layer has washed out or compacted unevenly, often from irrigation runoff directed at the driveway edge. In Miami’s sandy soils, that erosion happens faster than owners expect.
  • Standing water after a summer storm. The original pitch has failed, either from substrate settlement or tree-root intrusion common in Coconut Grove and Coral Gables. Water that sits more than 30 minutes breeds mildew and accelerates paver deterioration.
  • Edge restraints pulling away from the border. The plastic or aluminum spike system has corroded or loosened. Miami’s high water table and salt air attack metal fasteners that were adequate inland but marginal here.
  • Weeds or grass growing through joints. The polymeric sand has degraded or was never properly installed. Florida’s UV exposure breaks down inferior sand within 18-24 months.
  • Chipped or spalled paver surfaces. This indicates either inferior concrete mix (common in 2015-2017 CWS lots with high fly-ash content) or repeated impact from heavy vehicles on a base too thin for the load.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Full CWS driveway replacement in Miami runs $5,900-$16,520 depending on square footage, substrate condition, and whether we need to haul away an existing concrete base. Paver driveway installation specifically ranges $8,260-$21,240 for new work. For partial repairs, edge-restraint replacement on a typical two-car driveway width runs $1,200-$2,800 including removal, base re-compaction, new restraint, and paver reset.

Service Price Range
Driveway sealing $295-$825
Edge restraint replacement (partial) $1,200-$2,800
Full driveway replacement $5,900-$16,520
New paver driveway installation $8,260-$21,240

Every quote is a flat written price with line-item scope before work starts. Under Clause 1 of The Haven Standard, that number doesn’t change unless you sign a change order. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the workmanship, and you receive a documented photo record of the substrate condition before and after.

There’s no high-tension danger in paver work, but there is a hidden cost in getting the base wrong. An owner can safely pull a few loose pavers, photograph the underside markings, and check whether the bedding sand has washed out. What goes wrong in DIY is the compaction: a hand tamper doesn’t achieve the 98% Proctor density that Miami-Dade’s wet-season cycles demand. We’ve been called to redo homeowner repairs in Brickell and Wynwood where the pavers looked fine in March and had sunk two inches by August.

If your CWS driveway is under 400 square feet and the failure is limited to one border section, a careful owner with a plate compactor rental can handle it. Anything involving substrate excavation, pitch correction, or permeable-base reconstruction is worth the call. We carry CWS-compatible edge restraints, bedding materials, and joint sand on our trucks. Call (786) 321-4970 and we’ll confirm the part match before we roll.
