The part you need depends on whether your installation used the traditional sand-set method or IKO’s PermaEdge restraint system, which uses a different connector profile introduced around 2019.

To identify your series, flip a loose edge paver: Cambridge units carry a molded “CM” stamp and a date code in the corner; Armourstone shows “AS” with a batch number. If you’re matching a repair section, measure the joint gap too. IKO’s older pre-2018 stock used a 3/16-inch spacer tab; current production runs 1/4 inch. • Sunken or tilted pavers after rain. The bedding sand beneath has washed out, usually where the joint sand failed first and water found a path. In Miami’s summer downpours, this can happen in a single season if the original polymeric sand application was thin.
• White haze or efflorescence blooming on the surface. Calcium salts are migrating through the paver body, common in IKO’s lighter color blends installed near the coast where salt air accelerates the reaction. It’s cosmetic but signals moisture is moving through the assembly the wrong way.
• Pavers rocking under foot or tire. The base layer has settled unevenly, often because the original 4-inch compacted limestone base was skimped to 2 inches in a corner or edge zone. We see this frequently in Coral Gables installations where crews rushed the prep.
• Joint sand disappearing completely between units. Either the original sand was not polymeric and blew out, or the pavers have shifted enough to open gaps wider than the sand can bridge. Once gaps exceed 3/8 inch, the interlock is gone and the field will spread.
• Edge restraints pulling away from the perimeter. The plastic or aluminum edging has lost its spikes to corrosion or the concrete haunch has cracked. IKO’s PermaEdge system uses a specific spike pattern; standard landscape edging spikes won’t seat correctly and pop within months.
