Techo-Bloc Driveway & Pavers: The Miami Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Techo-Bloc-compatible driveway and paver systems in Miami, with typical installed prices running $8,260-$21,240 depending on series, substrate condition, and pattern complexity. Most Techo-Bloc replacements we quote are measured, priced in writing, and scheduled within 48 hours. Homeowners usually discover the problem after heavy rain: water pooling where it didn’t before, individual pavers rocking underfoot, or a driveway edge that has crept two inches toward the lawn.

Rowan Construction Group Miami is an independent service provider, not affiliated with Techo-Bloc.

Which Techo-Bloc Models This Applies To

Techo-Bloc’s residential driveway lines fall into three series families, and the part you need depends on which was originally installed. The Antika, Villagio, and Brandon lines use an 80mm thickness with a chamfered edge profile that locks differently than the 60mm Blu and Para patio pavers. Check the paver edge: a beveled 45-degree chamfer indicates the 80mm driveway series, while a sharp 90-degree edge points to patio-grade material that may have been incorrectly specified for vehicular load.

We also see the Permeable series, Aquastorm and Optiloc, misidentified by homeowners because the spacer lugs look like damage. These are intentional; removing them voids the drainage function. For color matching, Techo-Bloc batches vary between production runs, so we pull from the same lot when possible or blend two adjacent lots across the repair zone to hide the transition. OEM replacement pavers ordered direct from Techo-Bloc typically run 15-20% above equivalent-grade aftermarket Belgard or Unilock units, but color fidelity is usually worth it on repairs under five years old.

Identification help: flip a loose paver. The Techo-Bloc logo and batch code are molded into the bedding face, not the traffic surface. Photograph this before calling; it saves a trip.

Signs Your Techo-Bloc Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

Signs Your Techo-Bloc Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
  • Pavers rock or sink when you step on them. The bedding sand has washed out from beneath, usually because joint sand eroded first and allowed water to channel underneath. In Miami, this accelerates where downspouts discharge directly onto the driveway edge.
  • White haze or efflorescence blooming on the surface. Calcium hydroxide is migrating through the concrete matrix, common in Techo-Bloc’s denser mixes during the first wet season after install. It is cosmetic, not structural, but it often masks underlying settlement cracks.
  • Joint sand missing in continuous lines. This indicates channelized water flow, typically from a slope error in the original base preparation. Left alone, the pavers lose interlock and the edge restraint starts to bow outward.
  • Edge restraint pulling away from the border course. The plastic or aluminum edging spike has corroded or the header board has rotted. Miami’s sandy soils don’t hold spikes as well as clay; we switch to longer 10-inch spikes or concrete haunching on repairs.
  • Surface spalling or corner chipping on individual units. This is freeze-thaw damage in a climate that doesn’t freeze, which means the pavers were likely calcium chloride de-icer damaged or, more commonly, a lower-grade import was substituted for specified Techo-Bloc product.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Scope Price Range
Partial repair, under 200 sq ft, same-series pavers $2,950-$7,080
Full driveway replacement, standard 80mm series $8,260-$21,240
Base remediation with geotextile and 6-inch RCA $1,180-$2,950 add-on
Edge restraint replacement, linear foot $12-$24/ft
Polymeric joint sand, reset and vibratory compaction $0.85-$1.65/sq ft

The spread in full driveway pricing comes down to three things: how much of the base must be reprocessed, whether the original install used proper 6-inch compacted road base or shortcut with 4 inches of loose fill, and pattern complexity. A running bond is faster to lay than a herringbone or fan pattern with multiple cuts. Every quote we write itemizes these separately under Clause 1 of the Haven Standard, so you see where the number comes from before anyone picks up a tool. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the installation; paver material defects fall to Techo-Bloc’s own limited warranty, which we document and file on your behalf.

What you can safely check yourself: lift one paver from an edge or a spare stack if you have it, photograph the molded logo and batch code, and probe the bedding layer with a screwdriver. If you hit compacted stone within two inches, the base is likely adequate. If the screwdriver sinks into loose sand or organic soil, the base has failed and patching individual pavers will not last.

Where DIY goes wrong: Miami’s high water table means excavated areas refill with groundwater within hours, making proper compaction nearly impossible without plate compactors and dewatering experience. More critically, improper base grading traps water against the house foundation, a mistake that costs significantly more than the driveway repair itself. We carry moisture barriers, geotextile, and compaction equipment on every paver truck. Call (786) 321-4970 and we’ll measure twice, write it down, then build it.
